Boston Chinese Folk Dance Group
Mr. Shi Wang Wang, founder of
the Boston Chinese Folk Dance Group, inspires patriotism and
a longing for the home country by teaching traditional,
folk, and dances from specific ethnic groups in China. The
group, spreading Chinese culture throughout Western
societies, has been dubbed “Angels of Culture”. They’ve
received a commendation from the Mayor of Boston and high
acclaim from the Chinese community.
The group traveled to more
than thirty cities in China on four separate occasions to
perform. People were amazed that children who grew up in a
foreign land were able to perform such authentic Chinese
dances. In the twenty-one years of their existence, they
have performed in over 300 shows and brought Chinese dancing
to a new level in American Society. Now Mr. Shi Wang Wang
has students in every corner of the world. The Chinese
people should be proud that his students are furthering the
group’s mission of spreading Chinese culture and the art of
Chinese dance to a wider audience.
Through the years, the group
developed and matured under the leaderships of Eleanor Yu,
Clair Lee, Miranda Yang and Xiao-Yin Zhang, and currently
Mr. Nasi Huang, who volunteered their time and effort for
the benefit of the group. The Boston Chinese Folk Dance
Group is appreciative of the support and care shown to them
by organizations, scholars, and community leaders.
They welcome children and
youths who are passionate about Chinese dance to join their
big family. Please contact Nasi Huang for further
information. Phone: 617-529-3773 or email: nasi@bu.edu.
