President Michael Wong (Term: 2006- 2007)

Michael Wong started his community service career in 1990.  Because he resided at Tai Tung Village, the first organization he joined was the Tai Tung Village Tenants Association (TTVTA).  Subsequently he became the Chairman of TTVTA for 10 separate terms and the organization’s delegate to the Board of Directors at CCBA.  In 1993, he was elected vice-president to the Wong Family Association, and became president in 2009.  He is also actively involved in other Chinese organizations including the Chinatown Neighborhood Council, Que Shing Chinese Music and Opera Group where he was president for 8 separate terms, as Chee Kong Tong’s president in 2005, The Chinese Merchants Association, and advisor to the Taishan Community Association, Inc.

In 2006, he became the president of CCBA.  During his tenure, CCBA bought Waterford Place and in collaboration with the Chinese Economic Development Council, Inc., converted the parking lots on Ping On Alley and Oxford Street to affordable housing.  In 2005 he initiated the formation of Chinatown Crime Watch and is the captain for the group since its inception, patrolling the streets of Chinatown daily, rain or shine.  He is also an accomplished singer and was recently named the Prince of Love Songs by the community.
